Joseph Palmer is quickly coming to the forefront of a new generation of guitarists. Mr. Palmer has won top prizes in twelve international guitar competitions, including; 1st Prize in the Colorado International Guitar Competition, 1st Prize in the Columbus International Guitar Symposium, 1st Prize in the Louisville Solo Artist Competition, 1st Prize in the East Carolina University Guitar Competition, 1st Prize in the Texas A&M Guitar Competition, 1st Prize in the Mississippi Guitar Competition, 1st Prize in the ‘Classical Minds’ competition in Houston, Texas, 3rd Prize in the 2013 World Guitar Competition in Novi Sad, Serbia, 2nd Prize in the Montreal International Guitar Competition, and top prizes in the Tennessee Guitar Competition, and the Appalachian Guitarfest, Boone, NC. Joseph began his studies at 15 and excelled quickly. He was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Schwob School of Music with Dr. Andrew Zohn. Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, he has continued his study as a scholarship student under the world-renown performer and teacher Adam Holzman at the University of Texas at Austin where he has received his Master of Music Performance degree and is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree.
Mr. Palmer is also a dedicated teacher, running his own private studio of young guitarists in Austin, Texas, as well as working part-time as an instructor at Orpheus Academy of Music and the University of Texas Music Outreach Program. His students have won awards in state and regional music competitions and have been accepted to study in music programs at major universities in the U.S.
